Contemporary Photography and the Photobook: Between Latin America and Spain–Featuring Rámon Reverte(publisher, Mexico and Spain), Iatã Cannabrava(photographer and curator, Brazil), and Claudi Carreras(curator, Spain and Brazil)

Horacio Fernández (Spain), curator at the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofia, Madrid, and curator and author of The Latin American Photobook, in conversation with David Levi Strauss (US), author, critic, and chair of the Art Criticism and Writing MFA Program at the School of Visual Arts, New York.

Horacio Fernández, curator and author of The Latin American Photobook, wrote Fotografia Publica (1999), one of the first major books about the photobook. Shortly thereafter, Andrew Roth’s The Book of 101 Books was published, featuring the research and writing of David Levi Strauss, among other authors. Fernández and Levi Strauss discuss the growing area of research, scholarship, and critical writing around the photobook.
